Project Templates
If your business runs similar projects repeatedly, a template lets you start each one from a consistent structure instead of building it from scratch every time.
Requires the Projects module. Managing templates requires admin access.
Creating a template
- Go to Settings → Projects → Templates.
- Click + New Template and build out its task lists, tasks, and milestones the way you want every project of this type to start.
- Save.
Using a template
When creating a new project, choose a template to pre-populate its structure instead of starting empty.
Duplicating a template
Duplicate an existing template when you need a variant of it — a starting point that's close to, but not identical to, a template you already have.
Importing from an existing project
Rather than building a template by hand, you can import the structure of an existing project — useful when a project you've already run turned out to be a good pattern worth reusing.
Tips
- Build your first template from your best-run past project using import, rather than starting from a blank template.
- Keep templates focused on structure (task lists, milestones) rather than assignees — assignees usually differ project to project even when the shape of the work doesn't.
