Tasks & Milestones
Work inside a project breaks down into four activity types, giving you a proper hierarchy rather than one flat task list.
Requires the Projects module.
Activity types
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Task List | A group of related tasks — a phase or a category of work |
| Task | A single unit of work, assigned to a person with a due date |
| Milestone | A significant date or deliverable to track against, without being work in itself |
| Issue | A problem or blocker raised against the project |
Working with tasks
From a project's Tasks tab, create, assign, and track tasks the same way as elsewhere in YSUITE — status, priority, assignee, due date and comments all apply. Grouping tasks under a task list keeps a large project organised by phase rather than as one long list.
Milestones
The Milestones tab lists key dates and deliverables for the project — useful for a client-facing view of progress without exposing every individual task.
Issues
Log a problem against the project from the Issues tab. Issues are tracked separately from tasks so blockers don't get lost in the regular work queue.
Views
Projects support a Kanban board, a list view, and a Gantt-style timeline — switch between them depending on whether you need to see status, detail, or scheduling across the project.
Tips
- Use Milestones for anything a client or stakeholder needs to see progress against — they're lighter-weight than a full task and easier to report on.
- Route problems through Issues rather than as regular tasks, so blockers are visible as a distinct category when reviewing project health.
