Manual Journals
Manual Journals let you post double-entry accounting entries directly, for the transactions that don't come from an invoice, bill or payment — accruals, corrections and opening balances.
Requires the MoneyPro module.
Creating a journal
- Go to Accounting → Manual Journals.
- Click + New Journal.
- Add debit and credit lines against your chart of accounts — the journal must balance before it can be saved.
- Attach supporting documents (a contract, a calculation sheet) if useful for audit.
- Save as a draft.
Posting and reversing
- A draft journal has no effect on your ledger until it's posted.
- Once posted, a journal can be reversed — this creates an offsetting entry rather than deleting the original, keeping a complete audit trail of the correction.
- Editing or deleting is only available while a journal is still a draft.
Tax on journals
Where a journal line involves tax, YSUITE applies auto tax allocation so the tax posting stays consistent with how tax is recorded elsewhere in the ledger.
Tips
- Keep journals in draft while you're still gathering figures — nothing hits your books until you post.
- Reverse rather than delete a posted journal that turns out to be wrong; it preserves the trail for anyone auditing the account later.
